Course Description

Journalism 101 is an engaging introduction to principles and practices of journalism in the U.S. It employs Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel?s The Elements of Journalism: What Newspeople Should Know and the Public Should Expect to address such issues as objectivity, critical thinking, ethics, and journalistic best practices and standards. This course considers what constitutes news, news gathering, and the emergence of new forms of journalism (including blogs and citizen journalism).
