Course Description

The period of the 1960s was a revolution of a kind, one in which women played a key role. This lecture will focus on key women such as Joan Baez, Nina Simone, Judy Collins, and Laura Nyro. By examining the music they produced, and the challenges they confronted from the status quo in producing their art, we will explore characters too often overlooked or diminished in this critical time.
