Course Description

The course Leading in Dynamic Environments- Math Steeplechase addresses many intangible factors related to professional development management and educational instruction. What does it mean to manage an instructional segment, and how do we promote engagement while still maintaining a focused environment? How can educators and/or leaders collaborate and co-teach, and even delegate certain tasks to ensure a collaborative environment is established to proactively utilize individual strengths in addressing execution needs in a fast-paced environment? Based on the action research and studies of Dr. Dennis Parker during the annual Math Steeplechase hosted by University of the Pacific, this course provides a project-based learning opportunity for students to collaborate with faculty to promote a positive learning environment for elementary school children. Responsibility and collaboration are encouraged in a supportive and supervised environment. This provides students insight on real-world applications supporting student learning, managing large groups, and being a leader in the community.
