Course Description

The Mindful Studies Teacher Certification is a 150-hour year-long course that takes place from August through June. This immersive, in-depth experience trains educators in Peace in School’s pedagogical approach and the evidence-based Mindful Studies high school curriculum. Participants will engage in both in-person and virtual training experiences, including an immersive retreat in which participants will learn the core concepts of the Mindful Studies curriculum in a supportive community that mirrors the classroom environment educators will go on to create when they teach the class in their respective schools. Participants will learn about and practice the six core competencies of the Peace in School’s pedagogical approach during the bi-monthly virtual sessions and will be assigned a lesson to teach at the June retreat. If the participant has met the requirements of attendance as well as the rubric for facilitation, they will receive their certificate of completion in the mail along with the entire curriculum in July. The full experience is broken into 4 parts: August-December: Foundations (1 unit) January: Embodied Presence (4 units) February-May: Pedagogical Approach (1 unit) June: Assessment (4 units)
