Course Description

Life for Japanese Americans took a dramatic turn on December 7, 1941 as it marked the tragic end of an era for their community. After overcoming many hardships to establish themselves in a new land, the first immigrants, or Issei, suddenly lost everything that had taken a lifetime to achieve. Along with their American born children, they were imprisoned behind barbed wire, and some would never see freedom again. Through a series of films, lectures, and eyewitness accounts, you will accompany them on their journey to achieve `The American Dream.?
