UTCW 100 - Promoting Equity through Culturally Responsive Practices

Course Description

During this workshop, we will understand how culturally responsive teaching works to improve instruction and impact student learning. During the course of the day, we will: ? Unpack the foundations of culturally responsive teaching by focusing on two (2) key areas: improving information processing and building academic mindset ? Examine the teacher mindset, moves, and capacities necessary in these two areas to become more culturally responsive ? Articulate what we mean by ?culture? and how it?s integrated into teaching and learning in meaningful ways, ? Build our internal lens to recognize practices to keep, to discard, and to incorporate into a culturally responsive practice using interactive activities, review of video, and working through scenarios while modeling core practices.
