Course Description

Theatre is one way to seek understanding of the past, and through it to examine the issues of today. This course will examine three plays from different eras on the topic of war. Discussion topics include: What are the consequences of being at war? What are the costs to individuals and nations? Can humans learn to live without war? Suggested plays are: Peace by Aristophanes, Tiger at the Gates adapted by Christopher Fry from The Trojan War Will Not Take Place by Jean Giraudoux, and Mother Courage and Her Children by Bertolt Brecht.
